1. Who we are

SolarX (the “App”) is developed and published by Dünya Kulavuz, an individual developer based in Türkiye (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

2. Summary

• There is no account and no sign-up. We do not run any server for the App, and we do not receive your location, camera images or usage data.
• All astronomy (planet, Moon, Sun and star positions, rise and set times, moon phases, eclipses and other sky events) is calculated on your device. These features work offline.
• A few features need orbit data that changes all the time: ISS and satellite passes, and comets and asteroids (Pro). For these the App periodically downloads one small public orbit-data file from our own site, dunyakilavuz.com, which holds a copy of public data from CelesTrak and the IAU Minor Planet Center (about daily for satellites, weekly for comets and asteroids). The request asks only for the public file: it contains no location, no identifier and no account. Passes and positions are still calculated on your device. See section 3a.
• The App asks only for “While Using the App” location access, never “Always”. Your location is used on your device only, to calculate the sky for where you are. You can also enter a location by hand instead.
• The camera is used only to show the live sky behind the labels in Sky view. Camera images are not recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
• The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Where the law requires it, Google's consent form asks for your choice first. The App does not ask for Apple's tracking permission, so your advertising identifier (IDFA) is not used.
• SolarX Pro is sold by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. For Pro subscribers the ad SDK is not started at all, so there are no ads, no consent form and no ad requests.
• We do not sell your personal data. The App has no analytics or crash-reporting services.

3. Data we process

We do not collect your contacts, photos, microphone, messages, health data or browsing history. The App has no account system, no analytics and no crash-reporting SDK.

3a. Online orbit data

Satellites and comets move in ways that cannot be predicted far ahead, so these features use orbit data downloaded from the internet. Everything else in the App works without a connection.

• What is downloaded: one plain public file, dunyakilavuz.com/solarx-data/v1/orbits.json, with no account, sign-up or API key. It is a copy we publish of public orbit data, refreshed about twice a day by an automated job from: satellites (ISS free; bright satellites and Tiangong with Pro): CelesTrak, celestrak.org/NORAD/elements/gp.php?GROUP=stations&FORMAT=tle and GROUP=visual; comets and bright asteroids (Pro): IAU Minor Planet Center, minorplanetcenter.net/iau/MPCORB/CometEls.txt and minorplanetcenter.net/iau/Ephemerides/Bright/<year>/Soft00Bright.txt. The App itself does not contact CelesTrak or the Minor Planet Center.
• When: when you open the App and the data on your device is due for an update (about once a day for satellites, once a week for comets and asteroids; never more than once every 2 hours), and when you tap “Refresh now” in Settings › Online data. Nothing is downloaded in the background while the App is closed.
• What is sent: only a standard HTTPS request for the file. It does not include your location, a device or advertising identifier, or any account. The App sends a generic app name (“SolarX”) as its user agent and the date of the copy it already has, so an unchanged file is not downloaded again.
• What the server sees: dunyakilavuz.com is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., USA). Like any website you visit, GitHub receives your IP address and the time of the request as part of the connection and may keep it in its server logs for security purposes (GitHub Privacy Statement). We do not receive or see this information. CelesTrak and the Minor Planet Center (Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, USA) receive nothing from your device.
• On your device: the downloaded orbit data, the time it was copied from its source and the time it was downloaded are stored in the App's local storage and replaced at each update. Passes, tracks and positions are calculated on your device. If the data is too old (satellites 3 days, comets and asteroids 30 days after it was copied from its source), the App does not show these predictions and asks for fresh data instead.
• Ad settings file: the App also downloads a small settings file from dunyakilavuz.com (https://dunyakilavuz.com/solarx-data/v1/app_config.json) that controls how ads are shown. It is a plain file request with the user agent “SolarX”; no personal data is sent, and SolarX Pro users' apps do not download it.

4. Location, camera and motion

Location

• iOS asks for permission the first time the App needs your location. The App requests only “While Using the App” access and never asks for “Always” access, so it does not use your location in the background. It uses the location to calculate where planets, the Moon, the Sun and stars are in your sky and when they rise and set.
• The coordinates stay in the App's memory and are not written to storage, sent to us or passed to the ad SDK.
• If you decline, the App uses a default location (Greenwich, UK), or you can enter your own coordinates in Settings › Location › Enter manually. Those are saved on your device.
• On the Earth detail page, the App shows an Apple Maps view with your position. Apple provides that map under its own privacy policy.
• You can change location access at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › SolarX.

Camera

• The camera is used only to show the real sky behind the labels in Sky view. The App does not take photos, record video or record audio.
• Camera frames are shown live on screen and processed on your device only. They are never recorded, stored or sent. An optional slider lets you dim the camera image behind the sky.
• Without camera access, Sky view still works on a dark background. You can change this in iOS Settings › SolarX › Camera.

Motion sensors and compass

• The motion sensors and compass (Apple's Core Motion) tell the App which way your phone is pointing, so the sky moves with it. The readings are used on your device and are not stored or sent.
• Without them, you can drag to look around.

5. Advertising (free version)

The free version may show full-screen (interstitial) ads, provided by Google AdMob. SolarX Pro subscribers do not see ads.

• Consent first. In the free version, when the App starts it uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to show a consent message where required, for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland. Ads are requested only if Google's consent check allows it. Where a choice is required, you can review or change it at any time in Settings › Privacy & ads › Ad privacy choices.
• No tracking permission (iOS). The App does not show Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Because of this, your advertising identifier (IDFA) is not available to Google, and ads are not personalised with the IDFA.
• What Google may process: device and app information (such as device model, operating system and app version), device identifiers that the SDK can access without tracking permission, your IP address and an approximate location derived from it, ad requests and interactions (such as views and taps), and diagnostic information about ad performance. The App does not pass your GPS location to Google. Google uses this data to serve and measure ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, to prevent fraud and abuse and, where you consent, to personalise ads.
• Pro subscribers: for SolarX Pro subscribers the Google Mobile Ads SDK is not started at all. No consent form is shown and no ad requests are made, so no data goes to Google for ads.
• How Google uses data from apps that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

6. SolarX Pro subscriptions

SolarX Pro is an auto-renewable subscription (weekly, monthly or yearly) sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment and your payment details. We never receive your name, card or bank details.

The App checks your subscription with Apple's StoreKit on your device. It receives only the transaction information Apple provides, such as which plan is active, and saves the Pro status on your device to unlock Pro features. There is no server of ours involved.

• Restore: your subscription belongs to your Apple ID. Tap “Restore purchases” on the SolarX Pro page or in Settings.
• Manage or cancel: on the SolarX Pro page tap “Manage or cancel subscription”, or go to iOS Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions. Uninstalling the App does not cancel a subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

7. Data stored on your device

The App keeps the following in its local storage on your device: your settings (language, time format, distance unit, constellation lines, star label count, haptics, location mode), a manual location and place name if you entered one, whether you completed the welcome screens, and your Pro status and active plan, and the downloaded public orbit files with their download times (section 3a). Google's consent form also saves your ad consent choice on your device. This data stays on your device and is removed when you uninstall the App. It may be included in your own device backups (iCloud or computer), which are controlled by you and Apple.

8. Purposes and legal bases

• Calculating the sky for your location, and using the camera and motion sensors: providing the App you asked for, with the iOS permission you granted (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b); KVKK Art. 5(2)(c)). This data is processed on your device only.
• Showing ads in the free version: our legitimate interest in funding a free app. Personalised ads rely on your consent where the law requires it (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and (f); KVKK Art. 5(1) and 5(2)(f)).
• Subscriptions: performance of the agreement, with Apple acting as the merchant.
• Downloading orbit data: providing the satellite and comet features you use (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b); KVKK Art. 5(2)(c)). No personal data is included in the request; the IP address is processed by the file servers as part of the connection.
• Answering your emails: our legitimate interest in providing support (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f); KVKK Art. 5(2)(f)).
• Legal obligations: GDPR Art. 6(1)(c); KVKK Art. 5(2)(ç).

9. Service providers and international transfers

• Google: AdMob ads and the UMP consent form in the free version. See section 5.
• GitHub (GitHub, Inc., USA): hosts dunyakilavuz.com, from which the App downloads the public orbit-data file; it sees the IP address of the request (see section 3a). CelesTrak (USA) and the IAU Minor Planet Center (USA) are the original sources of that data; the App does not contact them and they receive no personal data.
• Apple: App Store payments and subscriptions (StoreKit), and the Apple Maps view on the Earth page. Apple's privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy

We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share your location, camera images or sensor readings with anyone. Google and Apple may process data outside Türkiye, for example in the European Union or the United States. Where required, transfers rely on the safeguards provided under KVKK Article 9 and GDPR Chapter V, such as standard contractual clauses. We may also disclose data if the law requires it.

10. Retention

• Location, camera images and sensor readings are not retained. Your GPS position is held in memory only while the App runs.
• Downloaded orbit files are replaced at each update and removed when you uninstall the App.
• Settings, a manual location and Pro status stay on your device until you change them or uninstall the App.
• Emails are kept as long as needed to answer you and then deleted, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.
• Advertising data is retained by Google under its own policies. Purchase records are retained by Apple under its own policies.

11. Deleting your data

There is no account to delete, because we do not hold any App data about you on a server. To remove everything the App stores, uninstall it. To clear a manual location, switch to “Use GPS” in Settings › Location.

To delete emails you sent us, write to dunyakilavuz@gmail.com. For ad data, see Google's controls at myadcenter.google.com.

12. Your rights (KVKK and GDPR)

Under Türkiye's Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK, Article 11) and, where applicable, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

• learn whether we process your personal data, and get information about and a copy of it;
• learn the purpose of processing and the third parties it is transferred to, in Türkiye or abroad;
• have inaccurate data corrected, and have your data deleted or destroyed;
• restrict processing or object to it, including objecting to processing based on legitimate interests;
• receive your data in a portable format (data portability);
• withdraw consent at any time, for example ad consent in Settings › Privacy & ads, or location and camera access in iOS Settings, without affecting earlier processing;
• object to an outcome against you that arises solely from automated analysis, and claim compensation for damage caused by unlawful processing;
• lodge a complaint with the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority (kvkk.gov.tr) or your local EU/UK data protection authority.

Because the App keeps your data on your device, we usually hold nothing about you beyond any emails you send. To exercise these rights, email dunyakilavuz@gmail.com. We will reply within 30 days at the latest, and free of charge unless the law permits a fee.

13. Children

The App is a general-audience astronomy app (rated 4+ on the App Store) and is not directed to children under 13. In the EEA, the minimum age may be up to 16, depending on your country. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and the App itself does not ask for any. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

14. Security

Your location, camera images and sensor readings never leave your device through the App. Connections to Google, Apple and dunyakilavuz.com are encrypted (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example when we add features. The updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date. If the changes are significant, we will also tell you in the App.
